campus The Galloway School is a college preparatory school serving students age 3 through grade 12. In 1969, Elliott Galloway, with friends and colleagues, built a school dedicated to learning, people, and the cultivation of mature, free, fearless thinkers, making it a perfect match for SIG students. The Galloway School’s philosophy is to encourage academic excellence while maintaining a student-centered focus. Galloway encourages students to value themselves and to value learning. The school supports the concept of higher order thinking skills and learning in an environment that invites inquiry and risk-taking.
Galloway’s commitment to individual freedom within an attentive, nurturing environment gives students the place and the space to thrive. The value placed on the uniqueness of each child is reflected in small classes that allow personal contact between students and teacher, and flexibility in planning the best learning approach. Galloway sees teaching and learning as a community enterprise: students, faculty, administration and parents are all partners in this venture
The school is located in Chastain Park, a haven of rest, relaxation and escape from the hustle and bustle of Atlanta. This beautiful campus occupies 8.2 acres and includes five main buildings. A 12-acre Athletics Complex near the school opened in spring of 2007. The school’s library maintains over 20,000 volumes and is fully networked. Coeducational and independent, Galloway is accredited by SACS and belongs to NAIS, SAIS, AAAIS and GISA.
