SIG is committed to fostering the recognition of each student’s unique abilities as well as providing opportunities to explore new interests. We encourage families to choose a course schedule that includes areas of passion and strength, but also allows for the development of new talents. Students may take four or five classes in the five-period day. Each class is seventy-five minutes long and runs for 15 sessions during the 3 week program.
The most important thing to consider when choosing the courses is to create a schedule that meets the student’s needs. We suggest that parents with any academic questions or concerns contact the SIG office. Here are guidelines we have found helpful:
- Choose two courses within an area of strength, such as Math.
- Try a course in a new area of interest!
- Choose one or two courses from the Arts or Fitness offerings.
- Finally, Study/Tutorial period is provided nightly for students, but some students also like to have an additional study period during their day as one of the five courses. This study period allows additional time to conduct research
and to work on class projects.
There are five seventy-five minute periods (Periods I - V) in the
daily schedule Monday through Friday. Students select from the course
listing, choosing courses from the appropriate level.
