SIG at Yale University: Safety, Security & Health
Safety, Security and Health
Student safety, security and health are our top priority at SIG. All SIG programs are held in safe campus locations and have campus security. Students are accompanied by a counselor or SIG staff member on and off campus. We can be reached at the on-campus SIG office seven days a week. Students can be reached by phone in an emergency.
Infirmary
During the three-week session, a resident licensed nurse is on duty 24 hours a day. At the beginning of the session, parents are required to give all prescription and non-prescription medication to the nurse, including over-the-counter products such as aspirin, decongestants, antacids, vitamins, etc. Unless the nurse authorizes it, students may not keep any medication in their rooms. Students who are not feeling well during the session must report to the infirmary, escorted by a staff member. Any drug use outside of approved medications from the nurse is strictly prohibited.
