From Our Staff: Things We Love

We spread the love in the month of February in honor of Valentine's Day, but our staff has love to share all-year round. Read on as we highlight our full-time staff here at Summer Institute for the Gifted and learn about the things they love, the people they work with, and their favorite thing of all: YOU!

Diane loves the environment SIG provides...

“I love that SIG students can be their authentic selves - they are in an environment where their peers LOVE to learn and it makes for a SIGnificant experience!”

Christine loves so much about SIG, she can’t choose. . .

“I love so many things about SIG I couldn't list them all! So, I'll limit it to my top three!  Meeting new families and seeing old friends each summer has got to be my #1. Not far behind is the sense of community we are able to build in such a short time with students and staff becoming a big family.  And finally, the joy of seeing those 'Aha' moments when a student realizes they've accomplished something they never thought they would (or could).”

Miranda loves the activities. . .

“Activities on campus are so creative. From Gourmet Microwave to trash fashion show to trivia games- students vs staff), the activities for SIG students are so much fun.”

Caroline loves the academics. . .

"I love that SIG Academics offers students a range of learning opportunities within our innovative course options to engage in rich discourse, debate, hands-on activities, participate in research, and create novel products that can propel their passions and contributions in various disciplines. I love that course instructors are always excited to work with our students and cultivate meaningful connections in such a short time. SIG not only promotes intellectual growth, but that it also caters to the social-emotional needs of gifted students. From engaging and socializing with like-minded peers to experiencing life on a university campus, I love that SIG is that memorable experience that students will never forget!"

Doug Parker, a SIG Course Instructor, loves a particular SIG program. . .

“I love The U, and you will too at SIG’s University of Miami Summer Enrichment Program! As a veteran SIG instructor, I have seen firsthand the awesome academic and personal growth that our students have achieved along with the lasting friendships that have blossomed in Miami’s radiant summer sunshine. Like all SIG venues, the friendly, cosmopolitan UMiami environment makes it the perfect host for our international students from all over the globe looking for a safe and nurturing summer experience! Pack your imaginations and your sunscreen this July, and I’ll be seeing you at The U!”

Nicole loves the resources provided to families. . .

SIG truly looks to be a thought-leader within gifted education and the development of our gifted, talented, creative, and high-potential youth and coming from an education background, having these resources like webinars and blogs is extremely important to me."
