Barbara Swicord, Ed.D.

Barbara Swicord, Ed.D, President & CEO

Barbara Swicord is SIG’s President. With an M.Ed. in Gifted Ed. from the U. of GA, & a doctorate in Ed. Admin./Supervision from Rutgers, her passion for g/t/c education has taken her from GA, to UT, NJ, and CT. Previously a SIG parent, she has worked for SIG since 2000, becoming President in 2007.

 

Caroline Daniel

Caroline Daniel, Academic Director

Caroline has worked with the gifted education community as an educator, curriculum specialist, and advocate for the last 15 years. She is currently pursuing her doctorate degree in educational leadership and resides in New York where she enjoys exploring new cuisines with family.

 

Samantha Deronsle

Samantha Deronsle, Program Director

A lifelong learner, Samantha spends her free time teaching herself new skills. Samantha’s favorite hobbies are reading and decorating. After managing summer programs for 8 years, Samantha finds the most rewarding aspect is seeing the immense change that happens for youth in a short period of time.

 

Kate Kossar

Kate Kossar, Director of Operations

Kate was born and raised in New York and grew up in the camp world. She has brought her love for summer programming to SIG for the past 4 years. You can find Kate playing tennis, spinning, frequenting festivals, and most of all being a devoted wife and mom to her husband, daughter, and cat, Liam.

 

Veronica-Low

Veronica Low, Admissions Coordinator

After living abroad and teaching in Israel, Veronica has returned to her roots in Connecticut. With her return, she has brought her passion for travel and education. Her free time is filled with podcasts, knitting, and yoga.

 

Erika Paine

Erika Paine, Senior Program Director

Erika is a Sr. Program Director for SIG. She grew up in Slovakia and now lives in Connecticut. She joined SIG in 2014. Erika is no stranger to the gifted world as she has been a member of Mensa since her teenage years. She enjoys solving puzzles, fitness classes, and spending time with her family.

 

Max-lynn Pierre

Max-lynn Pierre, Operations Coordinator/Executive Assistant

Max-lynn, who joined the SIG team in 2013, grew up in Stamford. A proud UConn alumna, her love for education carried over when introduced to the world of Gifted Education. Her passions are journaling, reading, photography, food, and travel.

 

Stephanie Pitassi

Stephanie Pitassi, Finance & Operations Manager

Stephanie joined the SIG team in 2011, and since then, has enjoyed serving SIG families in multiple capacities as a Program Assistant, a Customer Service Supervisor, and now as a Finance and Operations Manager. In her spare time, she enjoys reading, trivia, and listening to true crime podcasts.

 

Christine Provencher

Christine Provencher, Senior Program Director

Christine joined the SIG team in ’07 as Director of Operations. Born & raised in Connecticut, Christine semi-retired to Florida in ‘14 to golf & fish! Spring of ‘15 bought her back to SIG in her current remote role as Sr. Program Director. In her free time, you can find her hitting the links & shores.

 

Amy Seastrong

Amy Seastrong, Director of Staffing and Compliance

Amy joined the SIG team in ’05 as a Program Director, and since then, has fulfilled various roles within the organization, most recently as Director of Staffing and Compliance. Amy is also a SIG parent. In her free time, you can find her spending time with her family and their two cats.
